RISE develops, implements and demonstrates efficient data centre excess heat re-use in a district heating network. The system will be based on temperature chaining that will include liquid cooling and fuel cells used for combined power and heat production.

IREC conducts innovative research over a wide range of disciplines within the science and technology energy field. IREC contributes to sustainable development via development of new technological solutions, promotion of scientific and technological know-how related to clean energy and its efficient use as well transfer of solution and expertise to market actors. The institute also supports the promotion of renewable energy technologies and assists political decision-makers.
IREC coordinates the definition of the concept design and requirements for the technologies, with special focus on key performance indicators. These will be used in the evaluation of the WEDISTRICT technologies and demo sites.
